A world to step into
No deck of cards on a white page: you stand in the stone circle, hear the wind and the fire, and walk to the place that fits your question.
Ask the runes. Hear what they whisper.
A stone circle in a clearing, mist between the trees, a fire burning at its heart. From here, paths lead to a holy spring, to an ancient oak, to a burial mound, and into a hall where the story of the runes is told.
A rebuild of Magic Camelot’s old Runengeflüster: a whole world in 3D, with music made in the moment, and an oracle that is honest about what is old and what is today’s interpretation.

What makes Rune Whispers
The runes are old, and they have kept their secret. Rune Whispers gives them a place where you can fall quiet.
No deck of cards on a white page: you stand in the stone circle, hear the wind and the fire, and walk to the place that fits your question.
The Hall of Lore tells what finds and sources really say. What is modern interpretation is called just that.
A drone, an overtone singer, choir, harp and a distant lur. The music is played while you listen and never sounds the same twice.
What you ask the runes never leaves your device. There is no account, no tracking and no cookies.
Every reading and the whole hall in both languages. The app follows your browser; you can switch in the menu.
No subscription, no purchases. If the runes give you something, Magic Camelot is glad of a small energy exchange.
The places
Each place has its own ritual. You hold, reach or shake, and the runes answer.
Lay your hand on the still water and hold it there until a rune rises from the depths. It walks with you through the day, and only tomorrow does the spring give a new one.
Beneath the ancient oak that bears the rune Eihwaz, you speak your question and reach into the leather bag. The rune falls onto the cloth, and with it come questions that help you on.
At the entrance of the burial mound you shake the bag, and three stones fall onto the stone drums of the times. The reading weaves them into one story, the way the Norns spin a thread.
A longhouse with a hearth fire and eleven carved boards: where the runes came from, what Tacitus tells, how Odin won them, and at the end your own name in runes.
The Hall of Lore
Told as if by the fire, but true to the record: every station keeps to the finds and the sources and says openly what is uncertain.
Secret, whisper, written sign: what lives in the old word.
The comb from the offering bog of Vimose, around AD 160.
24 signs in three rows, and the Kylver stone, turned towards the dead.
What Tacitus writes about casting lots, and the riddling word alu.
Rune stones, serpents full of writing, and a curse that still stands.
How we know the names and images of the runes.
Nine nights on the windy tree, and the runes of the valkyrie Sigrdrífa.
Egil’s runes in the sagas, and where today’s oracle comes from.
All the runes with meaning, image, old name and sound.
Carried into the Elder Futhark by its sound and carved onto the board.
Samhain, Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh, Yule and Midsummer: what is old, and what the wheel makes of it.

Through the year with you
The world changes with the seasons, and your readings stay with you.

Snow in winter, blossom in May, falling leaves in autumn. At Samhain turnip lanterns glow by the stones, at Imbolc candles burn, at Lughnasadh sheaves lean in the grass, at Beltane and midsummer the fire burns higher.
Every reading is kept on your device. Read it again later, ordered by month. You can switch it off, leave out the questions or delete entries at any time.
Your reading as a beautiful page: the date, your question, a picture of the scene, the runes and the whole reading, with the crest of Magic Camelot. Made right in your browser.
Send your runes to someone you trust. The reading lives in the link itself, your question only if you want it to.
How it works
No download, no sign-up. Open, enter, choose a path.

Swipe to look around the stone circle, tap to choose a path. At the burial mound you can really shake the bag.
Drag to look around, click to choose. In the hall the arrow keys take you from station to station.
The graphics adapt by themselves. If it stutters, the app turns effects down; you can also choose the level in the menu.
Arrive in the stone circle, turn the sound on, and choose one of the four paths.
At the place, lay your hand on it or reach into the bag, and hold until the rune comes.
The reading opens like a page in an old book. Read it, and take with you what touches you.
Privacy, honestly explained
People who ask the runes often ask about things that are nobody else’s business. That is why Rune Whispers is built like this:
What you write beneath the oak is sent nowhere. It is kept only in the journal on your device, and only if you want it to be.
No sign-up, no analytics, no cookies, no ad networks. We do not know who asks the runes.
Your browser remembers the settings, today’s rune and your journal. You can switch it off or delete it, and it never leaves your device.
Fonts, images and music are part of the app. While you ask, Rune Whispers contacts no outside service.
Installed as an app, Rune Whispers works offline. The stone circle waits even where there is no signal.
There is nothing to buy and nothing about you we could sell. The energy exchange is voluntary.
To be honest: The app and this website live on our own web space at IONOS. Like any web server, it briefly needs your IP address to send you the page; we do not analyse it. All the details are in the Rune Whispers privacy policy.

Rune Whispers is made out of love for the old signs. If the runes have given you something, a small exchange keeps the fire burning, so the next place can come to be.
Questions
No, and Rune Whispers does not claim they do. The readings are a mirror: they ask questions and offer images and food for thought. What they tell you, you find within yourself.
The runes themselves are almost 2,000 years old; the oldest securely dated inscriptions are from the 2nd century. An oracle with fixed meanings, though, is modern and goes back mainly to books of the 20th century. The Hall of Lore tells exactly what is old and what is new.
The Odin Rune is not part of the old futhark. It was added to the rune oracle in 1982 and stands for the unknowable. Rune Whispers puts it in the bag too, and says openly where it comes from.
Some runes were misused by völkisch nationalists and under National Socialism. The hall speaks about this openly. Rune Whispers stands for the runes as script, myth and mirror, and for nothing else.
No. It is free, without ads and without purchases. If you like, you can give a voluntary energy exchange.
Only on your device, in the journal, if you keep one. There you can stop keeping questions and delete any entry. It is never sent to us or anyone else; it goes into a shared link only if you tick that box.
Yes, in three ways: every reading lands in the journal on your device, you can save it as a PDF on parchment, and you can share it as a link. Whoever opens the link reads exactly your runes and their reading.
The world follows the wheel of the year: in winter there is snow, in autumn leaves fall, and on the old feasts like Samhain, Beltane or Lughnasadh the stone circle shows something of the feast. The Hall of Lore tells what is old about these feasts.
No, Rune Whispers runs right in your browser. If you like, install it as an app: there is a button in the menu, and on iPhone and iPad you use “Share” and “Add to Home Screen”. Then it works offline too.
Yes, on current phones and tablets with an up-to-date browser. On weaker devices the app turns a few effects off by itself so it stays smooth.
